On March 3, 2025, Dr. Noppadon Maneethian, Director of the College of Technology and Interdisciplinary Studies, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), assigned Asst. Prof. Suphakal Tuitemwong, Head of the Pre-Engineering Program, and Asst. Prof. Sittisak Yeeyuan, Deputy Director of the College, along with faculty members and third-year Vocational Certificate (Pre-Engineering - Mechanical Engineering) students, to visit Chiang Mai Neurological Hospital under the Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health. The visit aimed to conduct a medical equipment repair activity, enabling students to apply their foundational engineering knowledge for the benefit of society while gaining hands-on experience in real-world workplaces. This initiative also instilled in students the university’s core values: "Excellence in Character, Leadership, and Public Service."

The students repaired and improved various hospital equipment, including food trolleys, patient meal tables, physical therapy equipment, IV poles, food and medical supply carts, and wheelchairs. The repair work was carried out under the close supervision and guidance of faculty members, with materials sponsored by the Thai Cutting Tools Manufacturers Association (TCTM).

This activity aligns with RMUTL’s strategic mission of "Producing Practically Skilled Graduates for Society," emphasizing both professional skills and social responsibility. It also supports the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation’s (MHESI) policy on workforce development, ensuring specialized skills that can be applied in industry and public service sectors. Additionally, the initiative corresponds with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, and SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting public health and enhancing students’ professional competencies.

Dr. Nopadol Sookpongnikorn, Director of Chiang Mai Neurological Hospital, along with the hospital’s management team, warmly welcomed the RMUTL delegation. He praised the faculty and students for organizing this impactful event and emphasized the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and healthcare organizations in fostering societal benefits.

Dr. Noppadon Maneethian, Director of the College of Technology and Interdisciplinary Studies, stated, "Our goal is to cultivate students with the attributes of ‘Excellence in Character, Leadership, and Public Service.’ Beyond engineering expertise, they must be individuals who contribute positively to society. This activity provides an invaluable opportunity for students to gain practical experience while understanding their role as socially responsible engineers."

Asst. Prof. Suphakal Tuitemwong, Head of the Pre-Engineering Program, added, "Learning through real-world practice is invaluable. Not only does it enhance students’ technical skills, but it also instills a sense of social responsibility—an essential factor in producing high-quality graduates for the workforce."

Dr. Nopadol Sookpongnikorn, Director of Chiang Mai Neurological Hospital, further noted, "Our hospital is committed to improving patient care quality. The support from engineering students allows us to maintain and enhance our medical equipment efficiently, directly benefiting both patients and healthcare professionals."

The RMUTL College of Technology and Interdisciplinary Studies remains dedicated to developing skilled professionals with a strong sense of public service, contributing to sustainable societal progress in the future.
