Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) was initially established as an institution of higher education under the name “College of Technology and Vocational Education” on February 27, 1975. Later, on September 15, 1988, His Majesty the King graciously bestowed the name “Rajamangala Institute of Technology,” which signifies “The Royal Institute of Technology as an Auspicious Gift from the King.” On January 18, 2005, the institute was elevated to university status and divided into nine universities under the name Rajamangala University of Technology (RMUT). RMUTL is one of these nine universities, specializing in professional and technological higher education.
The university’s objectives are to provide education, promote advanced academic and professional training with an emphasis on practical application, conduct teaching and research, produce professional educators, provide academic services in science and technology, preserve arts and culture, and conserve the environment. RMUTL operates in six provinces: Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Lampang, Nan, Tak, and Phitsanulok, along with the Agricultural Technology Research Institute.
RMUTL is a leader in education based on science and technology (Science and Technology-Based) and integrates teaching with practical work experience (Work Integrated Learning; WIL). The university focuses on cultivating graduates with integrity, ethics, and public-mindedness, excelling in producing skilled professionals (Hands-on Professionals) with the aim of advancing their professional expertise.
